Another case of plagiarism of images of Flickr
One might think that it is increasingly common to find cases of publications or advertising agencies without authorization to take photographs posted on Flickr.
This time I wrote Mario Sepulveda, who found that the publication "The Tempest" made use of one of his images for an ad specifically for a photo contest, this is the announcement made:
This is something that is being presented with greater frequency in Flickr, and this is because it is a site where anyone can take photographs and make use of them.
Some recommendations to prevent this are:
- It uses an image size small.
- Converts the images to 72 DPIs or less.
- Use water brands, preferably in the middle of the image and a low transparency.
- Always specify which are copyrighted by the photograph.
- Modify user who can view and download the photos as well as the different sizes of the picture.
- To save the image in JPG, use a quality level of 6 or less.
These recommendations are for the photos that were uploaded into Flickr or anywhere else for sharing photos, will not let that happen, but if you make it more difficult plagiarism.
It is also advisable to obtain the copyrights of our pictures, there is no need to make a record for each photograph, but that may be reported as collections, which makes the price of the pipeline will decrease considerably. Having the registration of copyright allows that if we want to initiate legal proceedings against the kidnappers, easier.
It is a shame that continue to give these kinds of cases and hopefully businesses and media are more aware that the photographs available on the Internet, are the work of someone and therefore required to give an appropriate credit and in some cases give a monetary remuneration for the same.
