Exhibit shows the life of Che through photos

The death of Ernesto "Che" Guevara forty years ago gave birth a myth and put an end to a life as a guerrilla fighter and a man of government, but also as son, husband and father, who now shows a photo exhibition opened today in the Circle de Bellas Artes.

The exhibition "Che Guevara. Life in pictures ", consisting of 64 images from the book" Che Guevara. Life in the game "of the Argentine journalist Julia Constenla, intended to reflect" the man behind the myth, "said Alicia Ovando, one of the commissioners of the exhibition.

The photographs, which are exhibited for the first time in Spain and which will be shown until Nov. 4, recount chronologically and by focusing on the most intimate sphere, the Argentine guerrilla's life from his childhood in the town of Alta Gracia until his execution in Bolivia, passing through his youth in Buenos Aires, his trips to America and his arrival in Cuba.

Among them may be family snapshots with his parents and siblings, with two women and their five children, or with friends like Alberto Granados, with whom he toured South America in 1951 on a motorcycle, or Antonio "Nico" Lopez, the Cuban exile to it given the nickname of "Che".

But there is also room for snapshots that illustrate his more political facet, including its youth trips to Peru, Colombia, Guatemala and Mexico, where he began to get to know young-politicized, and the issuance of landing in Cuba, his photographs with the Castro brothers, and the triumph of the revolution and their lives as a man of government in Cuba.

The latter aspect is well documented thanks to a dozen photographs that show his international travel to achieve political and economic support for the revolution.

They could hear politicians like Chilean President Salvador Allende, Soviet leader Nikita Krushov, or the founding of the People's Republic of China, Mao Tse Tung, as well as intellectuals as the pair formed by French philosophers Jean Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir , Or the Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin.

The sample is complete with the latest pictures of "Che" in his travels to Congo and Prague, in addition to his latest expedition to Bolivia, where he was murdered at the hands of the army 40 years ago.

"The pictures do not attempt to hold the deeds of an icon of the last century, but also try to show the history of a person studying, working, loves, is loved, builds friendships, fight and the man who yearns to live in a better world" , Explains in his book Julia Constenla.

The journalist was able to get the material, composed of photographs taken of the historical record of Cuba and many family albums, thanks to his friendship with the mother of the first "Che", Celia de la Serna, and later with its own "Che" Guevara .
