Throw the book at the best pictures of Pancho Villa
A Mexican researcher has just released a book containing 136 photographs of the revolutionary Pancho Villa, a project that seeks to explain "when and how they built the myth" on this historic figure.
"This is the first book that there are de Villa who falls into the category of visual arts. Until now there has been a book like that and we seemed to show the images of Villa required a special territory, "said researcher Miguel Angel Berumen, a former director of the Department of Cinema at the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez.
For the expert in iconography, Pancho Villa (1878-1923) was undoubtedly a "myth alive" as anecdotes proof that people still remember about him in northern Mexico as if still alive.
In his book, entitled "Pancho Villa, the construction of the myth" (Ocean and Table by Table, 2006), Berumen confesses that sought "recovery of historical memory from the image" in documents graphics files of Mexico and the U.S. .
Despite the revolutionary was assassinated 83 years ago and there is no doubt that "the myth is more powerful than the historical character" of Villa.
Many of the photos in the book show a smiling despite Villa to the top appeared as a gaunt man in front of the cameras that followed their military campaigns, but little by little is more confident and even complacent with the press.
