HP introduced the Annual Award Image Permanence


The award highlights the efforts aimed at long-term conservation of photographic and artistic images through the application of modern methods.

HP in conjunction with the Society for Imaging Science and Technology, (Society for Imaging Science & Technology, or IS & T's) announced the creation of the HP Image Permanence Award "to recognize, promote and honor contributors to promote through their work on the conservation and sustainability of the image.

The HP Image Permanence Award, given by the IS & T seeks to highlight the efforts aimed at long-term conservation of photographic and artistic images through the application of modern methods. The awards recognize three main areas of contribution:

- Advances in materials, colors and print to increase considerably in the image permanence.

- Progress in science predictable increase or stay the proposed conditions of storage and application of images.

- Educational efforts to communicate the impact of storage conditions and the continued implementation.

The winner of the HP Image Permanence Award will be selected by the IS & T, with the support of the International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works or IIC), will receive $ 10,000 U.S. dollars and a certificate validating their participation in the contest.

"This award recognizes those whose efforts in group or individual working to improve the conservation of important cultural and personal treasures in both Mexico and the world."
