Giant Sony finds defect in some cameras Cybershot




The Japanese electronics giant Sony today admitted a flaw in several models of its popular Cybershot digital camera and offered to repair them for free.

Eight models of these cameras sold between September 2003 and January 2005 in several countries may have a defect in its LCD screen that prevented seeing the picture, take photographs or make it displayed were not distorted.

According to the Japanese company said in a statement, the cameras could suffer particularly if such defects are found in areas with a lot of heat and high humidity.

Models that may be affected, and will be repaired free of charge if they show the flaws, are the Cybershot DSCT1, DSCT11, DSCT3, DSCT33, DSCU40, DSCU50, DSCF88 and DSCM1.

These are eight new models that are added to the list of about twenty other those that Sony announced a similar defect in October 2005, according to the company.

In late October, in addition, Sony announced the withdrawal of millions of its lithium ion batteries for laptops that can overheat.

"We ask forgiveness for the inconvenience caused to consumers, Sony continues to make every effort to improve their quality standards to the maximum extent possible," he said today the Japanese electronics giant said in a statement.
