Mexican photographer demystifies the superficial perception of the reality of Cuba




The image of Cuba has emerged based on misconceptions and stereotypes unfounded rumors, that phrase sums up the feelings of the young Mexican photographer Virro Borja, following up on the task of proposing a comprehensive graphic testimony of the reality prevailing in the island.

A selection of this detailed work can be seen in the exhibition Cuba, another glance, which was opened Thursday night at the diplomatic representation of that country in Mexico, Cuban Ambassador Manuel Aguilera de la Paz.

Part of that artwork is also reflected in a travel guide on Cuba by Editorial Águeda, which was filed in parallel with the inauguration of that sample.

The exhibition Cuba, was another look at the initiative of Editorial Águeda, doomed to tourist guides, hotels and restaurants. The publishing house has conducted similar projects related to the United States and Canada.

According to Virro Borja, a young man of 19 years, many people who have a distorted idea of what is Cuba.

"He looks just like a tourist place, with a unique political system, and the objective of this work is to demystify, to break with that idea surface that is on the island.

"Mine adds was a vision of Cuba beautiful, positive, not that one that speaks of the repression and poverty."
