The Independent Photographers Group was formed in San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, in 2002 with the intention to promote a visual culture that continues to evoke an artistic expression in every nook and contour of light. Independent photographer said from the beginning, the need for open spaces for the dissemination of photography, theory, criticism and discussion of the different languages of the image.
The group's work shows the will and participatory effort to address various topics and techniques. As a means of expression and transmission of ideas and concepts in the search and identity of each photographer from a stylistic language to a political-ideological. Therefore, not infrequently, the image plays an important role in our daily lives, is a persistent reference, we reflect on it and we found out, the feel and rationalize, but mainly as a need arises for communication, hedonistic sometimes, artistic and other social occasions.
