Exposure of the evolution of photography at the Tate Modern
With the name "Street & Studio. An Urban History of Photography, "which opens next May 22, 2008, the Tate Modern in London shows the evolution of photography, both as urban studies, with nearly 400 photographs of about 100 photographers of the century XIX and XX.
Some photographers can see which works are Francis Alÿs, Diane Arbus, Cecil Beaton, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Rineke Dijkstra, Jacques Henri Lartigue, Robert Mapplethorpe, Irving Penn, Norman Parkinson, August Sander, Cindy Sherman, Malick Sidibé, Paul Strand, James Van Der Zee, Juergen Teller, Wolfgang Tillmans and Mexican Manuel Alvarez Bravo.
The exhibition shows the evolution of photography on both sides. The study, which has absolute control of elements such as art, models and light. And the picture is in contrast to urban depends on many external factors. But despite their differences can be seen as each of these styles are complementary and influence.
It is important to note that this is the fourth photo exhibition organized by the Tate Modern since its opening in 2000. This is indicative of the importance that is taking the picture into the world of modern art.
