The memory maker SanDisk acquires Msystems
Both companies, engaged in the manufacture of flash memory for cell phones, digital cameras and other electronic products, was founded in the late 80s. The business has been seen as a sign of consolidation in the sector.
The U.S. manufacturer of memory cards SanDisk has closed an agreement for the acquisition of its competitor Msystems, reported today the firm said in a statement released in Madrid.
The transaction, whose value has not been revealed, is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2006.
Sandisk stressed that both companies have products, customers and sales channels complementary, and that he will aim to accelerate the development of storage solutions for handheld electronic devices and laptop computers.
