Photo Competition Vernacular Architecture of the Sotavento (Mexico)

1. The photographs must be presented to the competition aspects of the vernacular architecture of the region of Sotavento (homes, farm buildings, fences, interiors, courtyards, buildings, public spaces, kiosks, etc..), Defined as one that is a testament to popular culture materials and construction systems keeps major regional adaptation to the medium, reflects the traditions passed on from one generation to another and develops technologies that arise as a result of understanding the environment and above, is part of cultural heritage and identity of the region.

2. They must also belong to the municipalities in the region of the Leeward considered by this program:

3. Modalities of participation: Photo series on Vernacular Architecture of the Leeward Region.

4. Contestants: is open to all amateur and professional photographers a Mexican national living in any of the states that make up the Leeward region and have made photographic series on Vernacular Architecture in the Region.

5. Theme of the photographs: Vernacular Architecture in the region of Sotavento.

6. Socialization and dissemination: The series of photographs selected by the jury will become part of the collection of images for cultural dissemination Cultural Development Program and shape of the Leeward turn a traveling exhibition that will be presented at the national or foreign.

7. Display Format: Photographs must be submitted on photographic paper size 8X10 or 8X12-inch black and white or color, as applicable, not mounted, with protective cover of polypropylene.

The photos may be picked up at the reception point from November 1st and in a period not exceeding 30 working days, after which the Cultural Development Program of the Leeward not be responsible for material not collected.

Once an opinion is requested negatives, slides or electronic files (tiff to type size is 11 x 14 inches, 8 bits, with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi) of the winning photos, which should be returned once done playing.

8. Number of works: It takes a series of 10 photographs at least, no number limit of work.

9. References: Entries must be delivered in a sealed envelope to be identified with a pseudonym. Each photograph must bear on a separate sheet attached a brief sheet that contains: the pen name, place and date of taking, individually or series and number of photograph in the series. Also inside the envelope must be included another separate sealed envelope, identified with the pseudonym and the name of the series, containing the author's full name, phone, address, photocopy of official identification with photo and email.

Attached, you must submit an official record of residence in the participating states.

Shall be attached a sheet explaining the context and / or description of the images.

10. Images must not have any kind of digital manipulation.

11. Jury: The Jury is composed of renowned personalities of photography and its decision will be final.

12. Contest winners authorize the Cultural Development Program Leeward reproduction of their works, regardless of system or media, and without any remuneration implicit in between.

13. Meanwhile, the Cultural Development Program undertakes to grant Lee claims relating to (the) author (s), whenever his photographs are displayed or published.

14. Contestants are fully responsible that there are no third party rights in the works submitted and any claim for rights of the image.

15. If the material is presented on behalf of (the) author (s) or mailed, must submit the written authorization to make the registration, and also ensure the acceptance of the conditions listed.

16. Series will not be accepted or photographs that have been awarded in previous competitions.

17. The Cultural Development of the Leeward take all precautions necessary for the preservation of photographs, but no liability will be assumed by loss before or after the pageant or during mailing.

18. To ensure your participation, el (los) author (s) must comply with these regulations, and it is understood that by attending to this call, at the time of registration will be accepted unconditionally this basis, and any resolution adopted by incidents not provided for them.

19. Matters not covered by these guidelines will be resolved by the organizers.

20. Awards: The awards will take place at date to be determined during the 4th Cultural Festival Sotavento. The date, time and venue will be communicated to the winners as soon as necessary.

It was awarded three photographic series:
1st Place $ 15,000.00 (fifteen thousand pesos 00/100 MN)
2nd Place $ 12,000.00 (twelve thousand pesos 00/100 MN)
3rd Place $ 8,000.00 (eight thousand pesos 00/100 MN)

Also honorable mentions will be given to the work that the jury deems appropriate, which shall be accompanied by a boost of $ 2,000 (two thousand pesos 00/100 mn) each.
