CONTEST RULES
1. Participants
Any person may participate, as long as he is of age, regardless of their nationality.
2. Categories
The categories in which, through the photographs, you can get a prize are:
- Wild Trees
- Trees rural
- Urban Trees
For each category there will be a first and second place.
It was also awarded to the records of majestic trees on the site, without photographs. Will be evaluated by Reforestamos Mexico to reward according to:
a) Registration information professional (precise content and accurate)
b) The aid through the registry, gave photographers to find a majestic tree and photographs.
10 entries were awarded. The winners will be awarded a reflex camera or a trip within the Mexican Republic (3 days and 2 nights for 2 people). (5 will travel cameras and 5).
3. Theme, artistic and technical specifications
Participants must develop (s) photo (s) fit the theme and content of the competition.
The picture's theme is majestic trees that exist only in the territory of the United Mexican States (hereinafter "Mexico").
Means majestic, every tree that according to their species and region, can be distinguished by:
• Your outstanding height and bulk of the trunk.
• Their longevity, become witnesses of humanity, of Mexico, that is, trees more than 500 years.
Photographs must meet the following requirements:
• The photograph must be taken on board 4 or 5 × 35mm or 120mm.
• If you take digital pictures, send the original file size 300dpi'sy letter to use a camera 6 mega pixels or more.
• The photos are taken in color.
• not be handling digital warrant automatic disqualification.
Additional specifications: Photographs must include the registration form which can be found and printed from this website, and signed a legal brief narration of a sheet that contains the history of photography, the story will
to come with a title, referring to the tree.
Each photograph must be signed and dated by the author of it.
If co-authorship of a photograph, it must manifest itself in the same enclosure or in front of it and be signed by the co-author, mentioning the participation rate, or state that was created in equal parts, as well mentioned the common representative of the sponsors in front of the competition.
In order to place a photograph of the co-sponsors of the joint representative will be responsible for registering it.
In case of winning a photograph created in co-authorship, the prize is given to common representative of the sponsors who will share the prize accordingly.
The organizers of the contest are released from their responsibility to deliver the prize of a photograph of co-authorship, handing the award to the common representative of the sponsors.
By submitting a photograph and sign the front of it, the sponsors agree to the terms of these bases.
By placing the photograph in this contest, participants agree to the terms of these bases.
Reforest reserves the right to accept the works or not as suited to the theme of the contest.
Reforest respect any decision of this contest is final.
4. Proof of transfer of copyright on photography.
Through the registration of the photograph in this contest, I know that the guidelines of the competition and I know and accept that this is an original photograph of my creation.

5. Sending works

6. Deadlines
The deadline for receipt of the photographs on the website run from the date of publication of these bases (18 October 2006) until 20:00 pm on July 30, 2007.
The jury's decision regarding the winners will be held on July 1, 2007.
The resolution will be published on the official website: www.centinelasdeltiempo.org.
Also, reforestation will contact the winners by telephone in order to agree the details of the prizes.
Awards will be the second week of July 2007.
7. The Jury
The jury will be elected by reforested and will consist of 5 persons, all experts or technicians photographers environmentalists.

No member of the jury may participate in the contest whether or indirectly.
Also excluded from the opportunity to compete in any official or relative or collateral line up in eighth grade of a member of the Jury of the organizers or parties related to them.
8. Selected works
Of all the pictures received, reforestation, elect 100, of which the jury will decide the winning 6 in accordance with the provision of artistic photography, the originality of it and in accordance with the theme of this contest.

I would say is: Excellent! make this as competitive as it promotes the ecology and conservation of our flora and it is time to be valued and not the main tale or fire. To take the initiative to do something for this world and particularly in our country which is sorely lacking and that makes it should come from ignorance and lack of culture.
Tuesday 10/04/07 The fire occurred in the inmediciones Hill Jocotitlan Edo. of Mexico near Toluca. I personally drive me out of work on their own initiative together with my dog Trushka personnel PROBOSQUE that was suffocating the fire. Let me tell you that we were only 10 people along with me and there was nobody else around the town. The picture was bleak, which tells us that something must be done, even something for our majestic trees and forests. What is Sentinels of Time?
It is a photo contest at the national level, whose central theme is the majestic trees of Mexico, where:
a. Professionals and amateurs compete to take photographs,

What categories includes the Competition?
There are three categories of participation:
Urban trees - are inside the cities. It is defined as a city where people live more than 15,000 people.
Rural trees - are in or near populated areas not exceeding 15,000 inhabitants.
Wild trees - growing in forest areas, whether in natural protected areas, or in a forest, jungle, desert or mangrove. The tree should be more than 10 km. away from the nearest town.
How do I participate?
Only one tree can register for class and can do as follows:
a. Through a photographic record.
If your photos are digital:
Enter the website of Time Sentinels.
Click on the link 16 Register of Trees with Photography "
Read and accept the legal basis of the competition.
Fill your details and complete the registration of the tree. On this screen you upload two photographs, which must have the following characteristics:

¿Qué requisitos deben tener las fotografías?
· Deben ser tomadas a color.
· Puedes tomarlas en placa de 4×5 ó con una cámara de 35mm ó de 120mm.
· Si prefieres tomar fotos digitales, tu cámara deberá ser de 6.0 megapixeles o más y las fotos deben ser tomadas con la máxima resolución de la cámara.
No se permite la manipulación digital. Es motivo de descalificación automática.
¿Cuáles son los premios?
El Concurso Nacional de Fotografía, CENTINELAS DEL TIEMPO, Árboles Majestuosos de México, es uno de los tres premios más grandes de fotografía a nivel internacional.

Se premiará a los dos primeros lugares de cada categoría, de la siguiente manera:

b. Registros sin fotografía.
Se premiará a los 10 mejores registros sin fotografía con 5 cámaras fotográficas reflex y 5 viajes dentro de la República Mexicana.
¿Quiénes integran el Jurado
y cómo van a calificar?
a. Registros fotográficos.
El Jurado está conformado por:

· Comisión Nacional Forestal (CONAFOR)
· Comisión Nacional para el conocimiento y uso de la biodiversidad (CONABIO)
Los criterios y puntajes para calificar serán:

b. Registros sin fotografía.
Los registros sin fotografía serán evaluados por Reforestamos México y el Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Forestales, Agrícolas y Pecuarias (Inifap), tomando en cuenta: registro profesional de la información y la ayuda que a través del registro se brindó a fotógrafos para encontrar un árbol majestuoso y fotografiarlo.
¿Quién puede participar?
Pueden participar mexicanos y extranjeros que sean mayores a 18 años de edad.
¿Hasta cuándo puedo inscribir registros con y sin fotografía?
La convocatoria se encuentra abierta desde el 18 de octubre de 2006, hasta el 31 de mayo de 2007, a las 20:00 horas.
¿Qué se espera del Concurso?
Buscamos que los árboles majestuosos sean tratados como tales, y las comunidades que los albergan, los protejan y puedan beneficiarse de las visitas turísticas que reciban los sitios en donde se encuentran.
Al sacarlos del anonimato, estos seres se convierten en símbolos de nuestro país, y de esta forma, el protegerlos, se vuelve una tarea compartida de todos los mexicanos.
Posterior al Concurso, se planea:
· Montar una exposición itinerante, que visitará varios Estados de la República,
· Editar un libro y un documental sobre estos árboles.
· Replicar el proyecto cada dos años.

Tal vez para el concurso siguiente dentro de dos años tomen en cuenta este comentario.
Si el criterio del concurso es enfocado al aspecto ecològico y/o del cuidado del medio ambiente mediante la cultura de la reforestaciòn; deberìan de tolerar en una cuarta categorìa àrboles con los que sì se puede reforestar, porque estoy seguro que serìa imposible sembrar ahuehuetes o sauces.
Quiero pedirles un favor tambièn necesito para un proyecto altruista de enseñanza a niños y adolescentes, me faciliten datos de gente que me pueda documentar en el contexto de cultura ecològica, desarrollo sustentable y cuidado del medio ambiente. De antemano Gracias. Hasta luego.

muchas gracias por tus comentarios. Tienes toda la razón, es muy importante fomentar entre los mexicanos una cultura de amor y respeto por los árboles, así como enaltecer el valor de las reforestaciones.
Centinelas del Tiempo es un concurso de fotografía que intenta comunicar estos valores a la población en general, cuya única restricción es que los árboles que concursen sean especies mexicanas. Creo que tu propuesta sobre fotografiar especies con las que se hagan reforestaciones es muy buena, pero tal vez no requeriría una categoría especial, ya que hay reforestación con una gran variedad de especies, y en algunos casos se utilizan los árboles que tú mencionas, dependiendo de las características del terreno a reforestar.

Me parece excelente la extensión de recepción de material, me gustaría someter una fotografía, sin embargo, piden dos fotografías, una que es la que concursa y otra para dar una descripción. Pero, si sólo tengo una sóla foto que tomé, puedo someterla???, y utilizar esa misma fotografía por duplicado para hacer la descripción????.
